David Oranye Steps into Priesthood at 26

Men Chairman

The glory of God was made manifest at the Nation Builders’ Cathedral, Christ Holy Church International, Mbonu Ojike/Obosi Street, Fegge, Onitsha, Anambra State, Nigeria, on Friday, 16th October 2020, as members of the church, family members, colleagues, friends, and well-wishers from far and near gathered to witness the historic Priestly Ordination of Evangelist David Oranye Okoh. The 26-year-old David was ordained by his father, the Archbishop and General Superintendent of Christ Holy Church International, His Grace, Most Rev. (Dr.) Daniel Okoh. The Board of Superintendents assisted him. The auditorium, premises, and streets surrounding the cathedral were filled with congregants who came to witness the event.

In his sermon, YOU CAN, the Arch Bishop assured the Ordinand of God’s support for the tasks ahead. Making references from Jeremiah chapter 1, he gave reasons why David Okoh should not be afraid or in doubt. Thus, God knew him from the beginning; God knew the abilities he had poured into him, God had set him apart, He didn’t choose himself, etc. In his words, during the days of Jeremiah, many things were fashionable, such as idolatry and wickedness, among others, which made him doubt his call initially. Still, in the midst of these, God gave him victory. The General Superintendent encouraged the Ordinand, Ministers, and Christians who are scared of answering God’s call due to perceived inabilities to hope in God, who renews the strength of the called.

“God will not disqualify us due to our weaknesses, disabilities, or inabilities. God will handle that Himself. He makes one who is weak to be strong”, he said. Speaking to newsmen, the newly ordained Priest, David Okoh, noted that the event was a testimony and an unforgettable experience in his life’s story. “I didn’t really see this coming soon; in fact, I lost hope, but I just had to keep the faith, and by God’s grace, we are celebrating the manifestations of God’s promises. It’s really a testimony”, he said. “My driving force had been personal revelations and conviction, which confirm testimonies from people around me. My parents, too, were wonderful in seeing that today comes into reality; they always assured me that I could do it… this is just the first step, and you know that the journey of a thousand miles starts with a step. I am confident that God is with me; I will get to the zenith of my career.”

“To all the young men who are still doubting God’s power, let me assure them that it is possible, but it is not rocket science. God is there, but you have to play your part to attain that desired destination. It is going to demand perseverance. There is celebration today, but I must say the journey here was not easy. There were worries, calamities, etc., but in the end, God showed himself,” he responded. Present at the event were International Executives Committee members of the CHC Men’s Fellowship, Central Executive members of the CHC Youth Fellowship, family and friends of the newly ordained, General Secretariat staff, staff of the NationBuilders College of Technology, Asaba, Delta State, gentlemen of the press, members and ministers of Christ Holy Church International. The event also featured a thanksgiving session, choral, and solo renditions, among others. ...#EVENT#GALLERY...
