SMATT AGUBA (Ph.d)
Chairman, Youth Fellowship Christ Holy Church Int'l
The Youth Fellowship, which was inaugurated in the year 2002 under the leadership of Barr Onuorah Okeke, made significant progress and achievements for the organization. In May 2013, Dr Smatt Aguba took over as the International Chairman and continued to contribute to the success of the fellowship. The first achievements during Dr Smatt Aguba and his executive's leadership was the change of the fellowship's name from Youth Association to Youth Fellowship. This name change reflected the evolving nature and purpose of the organization to align with the tripod structure of the church and marked a significant milestone in its growth and development.
Financial independence was also achieved under Dr Smatt Aguba's leadership. This allowed the fellowship to take responsibility and decision-making processes, enabling it to carry out its activities more efficiently and effectively. The construction of the on-going state-of-the-art 5,000 capacity Youth center in Asaba was another remarkable achievement during this period. This center will provide a dedicated space for the fellowship's activities and gatherings, and serve as a hub for youth empowerment and development in the church and the outside community. The center will be a huge source of income for the fellowship as it opens for event rentals to the general public.
In addition, the Nation Builders Campus Fellowship (NABCAF) was established across higher institutions in Nigeria. This initiative aimed to build a network of like-minded young individuals who were passionate about God and making positive impact in their communities and country. The Bi-annual Youth Fellowship Scholarship Scheme was also instituted under Dr Smatt Aguba's leadership. This program provided financial assistance and support to indigent deserving and academically promising youths of CHC International , enabling them to pursue their educational aspirations. To showcase the talent and creativity of the youths, the Nation Builders National Youth Troupe of Nigeria (NABYTON) was established. This troupe provided a platform for young performers to showcase their artistic abilities and contribute to the cultural heritage of the country. Under Dr Smatt Aguba's leadership, the annual Youth Day celebration in the church was institutionalized, allowing the youth to be recognized and celebrated for their contributions and achievements. Similarly, the annual youth Thanksgiving was established, providing an opportunity for the youth to express gratitude for their blessings and achievements.
The introduction of an annual Youth levy in the church was another significant development. This levy served as a means of financial support for the youth fellowship, enabling it to sustain and expand its activities and programs. One of the milestones achieved during this period was the organization's first-ever international youth conference held outside Nigeria. This conference provided an invaluable opportunity for the youth to engage with their peers from different countries, fostering cultural exchange and collaboration.
Lastly, functioning youth fellowships were inaugurated in international districts, expanding the reach and impact of the organization beyond the borders of Nigeria. This initiative aimed to create a global network of young individuals who were united in their commitment to youth empowerment and nation-building. Overall, under the leadership of Dr Smatt Aguba, the Youth Fellowship experienced significant growth and achieved numerous milestones. Through initiatives such as name change, financial autonomy, infrastructure development, educational support, cultural promotion, and international engagement, the fellowship made a lasting impact on the lives of young individuals and communities, both nationally and globally.
